About Avi Meyerson
Avi Meyerson is Founder of AM Elite Hoops, a premiere player development service with camps and academies in Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. Meyerson, a native of Seattle, Wash., U.S., has more than 15 years of advanced basketball coaching experience.
AM Elite Hoops provides dynamic on-court instruction and a mentoring program to guide players through their basketball careers. Since moving to Australia in 2013, Meyerson has been instrumental in helping dozens of players from the region play college basketball,
Despite being over 12,000 miles away from North America, Meyerson remains active in the U.S. Basketball scene where each summer he is invited to work top camps and clinics.
Before his move to Melbourne, Meyerson coached both college and professional basketball.
He served on both the men’s and women’s basketball coaching staffs at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif. While with Occidental, the men’s program advanced to back-to-back NCAA Div. III Men’s Basketball Championships for the first time in school history. Meyerson also spent one season as an assistant at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Prior to working in the collegiate ranks, Meyerson was a player/coach for Lemvig Basketball Club in Denmark from 2001-03.
Following his European experience, Meyerson returned to school and earned his master’s degree from Washington State University, where he also served as a graduate assistant from 2003-05. At WSU, Meyerson worked under legendary basketball coaches Dick and Tony Bennett. The latter (Tony) is currently the head coach for the University of Virginia men’s basketball program in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and recently led the Cavaliers to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Meyerson and his wife, Jessica, have a son, Azekiel, and a daughter, Ruby.
